FILM MAKERS PLATFORM

  19 – 22 October

The Filmmakers Platform is a virtual masterclass in partnership with Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) and Arts Alive. The platform aims to speak on the different issues within the South Africa film industry.

These virtual masterclasses will be with industry practitioners who will aim to provide educational sessions to positively contribute to transformation in the sector whilst the industry is battling with effects of Covid-19. The masterclasses will look at topics such as:

  • Monday 19 October, 2 – 4pm: Accessing music right for film and importance of royalties with Phindile Matroshe, Yvette Gayle, SJ Nicholson, Gabby Abrahamse.

  • Tuesday 20 October, 2 – 4pm: The Impact of COVID-19 on Film and international Co-productions with Kalumbu Kapisa, Helen Kunn and Mmabatho Kau.

  • Wednesday 21 October, 2 – 4pm: Locations accessibility during Covid-19 with Douglas Machogo, Lovers Monene and Azania Muendane.

  • Thursday 22 October, 2 – 5.30pm: Future of SA Film Industry using digital platforms for expansion: Netflix vs traditional TV media.
